Joshua Wexler

The Chief Executive of Fun

Joshua Wexler is co-founder — and self-described Chief Executive of Fun — of Pure Imagination Studios, an entertainment studio committed to blurring the lines between imagination and reality. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and President of the Threshold Entertainment Group of companies, which included Threshold Entertainment, Threshold Animation Studios and Blackbelt TV. In other words, over the last 20 years, he has created and produced films, television shows, and theme-park attractions based on some of the biggest brand names in the world. Think: Star Wars, Spider-Man, Mortal Kombat, LEGO, MARVEL, Bob The Builder, (phew, halfway there!) Kung-Fu Panda, Shrek, Hero Factory, NASCAR, The Justice League, Batman, The Simpsons, Bionicle and many others.

Projects

When filmmaker Zack Snyder was looking for an explosive way to promote his apocalyptic, zombie-filled film, Army of the Dead, the answer came from Joshua Wexler’s Pure Imagination Studios — in partnership with Netflix, Fever and The Stone Quarry — with the creation of Viva Las Vengeance. In this “truly immersive” virtual reality experience, zombie hungry fans have the chance to battle and destroy the undead. This wasn’t the Josh’s first VR rodeo. ALIEN: DESCENT sent a squad of wireless-tech wearing marines to investigate a distress call and battle hordes of xenomorphs. If guns and guts aren’t your thing, there’s the more PG Marvel Universe 4D, which unites your favorite Marvel heroes in an epic action adventure that takes places in the city where you’re watching it — New York, LA, or Las Vegas.
