The Amplifier of Black Culture
When he was just 24 years old, Jeremy Hodges started his own creative studio. In his words, Project Art Collective is: “a diverse group of enthusiastic, multi-disciplined art kids and marketing misfits … playing with cameras, paint, pens, and tech to curate interactive artistic experiences.” Whether he’s working with brands like Bud Light, Coca-Cola, Red Bull, Microsoft, and McDonald’s, collaborating with artists like SZA and Lady Gaga, or designing exhibits to honor greats like Tupac Shakur and Bob Marley, Jeremy’s goal is to create authentic experiences through innovation and storytelling. And heart. “Tupac Shakur was my Malcolm; he was my Martin, and to build an experience that honors such a prolific man, cannot be summed up in words,” he told Vibe.
Projects
A collaboration with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Project Art Collective, Tupac Shakur: Wake Me When I’m Free, was part museum, art installation, part immersive experience. “We wanted to create a memorable experience that will inspire you to be better than when you walked in, all while leaving you with the knowledge that he was a true revolutionary spirit,” Hodges told Vibe. This wasn’t the first immersive museum project for Hodges: In addition to photos and memorabilia, the Bob Marley One Love Experience featured a 2,000-square foot One Love Forest with a cannabis garden, a Soul Shakedown studio for silently grooving with headphones on, and street art from The Postman, Idiotbox, and Mr. Brainwash. Closer to home, Hodges spearheaded Chicago’s Hyde Park Summerfest 2023, with a diverse lineup of artists including Clipse, 2 Chainz, Lil Kim, Robert Glasper and Uncle Waffles.
