Netflix Vice President and Head of Live Experiences Greg Lombardo gets to think out of the box — and off the screen. In his role at the streaming giant, Greg and his team bring programming to life with participatory adventures, like the recent hit Stranger Things: The Experience. Before joining Netflix, Greg was the CEO of OffShore Surf, a company that creates authentic surfing experiences for beginners and seasoned surfers who want to catch the perfect curl — which are generated by wave machines in massive indoor venues. Prior to hanging ten, Greg served as SVP Global Location Based Entertainment at 20th Century Fox. There, he got valuable experience spearheading multiple memorable projects, from The Simpsons “Springfield” Land at Universal Studios and the Avatar: Discover Pandora global traveling exhibition to virtual reality attraction Alien: Descent and the Ice Age Live! stage show.
Projects
When Stranger Things debuted on Netflix, viewers entered a portal into another world — a world which became a reality in 2022 with Stranger Things: The Experience. Combining the best of escape rooms, selfie museums, and live action theater, the experience — complete with a Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream parlor, Surfer Boy Pizza and the Byers’ recreated living room — provided a trippy trip into the Upside Down and Hawkins, circa 1986. Greg is also responsible for other tie-ins to hit Netflix programming, including the bank robbery-themed Money Heist: The Experience and the zombie survival challenge Viva Las Vengeance: VR Experience. And earlier this year, Greg helped bring the best dishes (and chefs) from Netflix food shows to a pop-up restaurant in L.A. called (appropriately) Netflix Bites.
