The Unofficial Covid Soundtrack Curator

From the DJ booths of Harlem to millions of music fans’ devices, Derrick “D-Nice” Jones evolved from hip-hop artist to pop culture phenomenon during the pandemic. The legendary artist, DJ, and photographer made millions of music fans across the world bust a move from our living rooms with his revolutionary virtual Club Quarantine. D-Nice exemplifies the best parts of experiential. Proving that incredible experiences don’t always have to be the most exotic — sometimes just connecting people through music is enough. And the people agree: The NAACP Image Awards named him “Entertainer of The Year,” TIME magazine nominated him for 2020 “Person of the Year,” and EBONY magazine included him on the 2021 “Power 100” list.

Projects

In March 2020 (a month that will live in infamy), a virtual “club” safely united millions of music fans in community amidst social isolation. For the inaugural set, DJ D-Nice spun classic R&B, soul, dance and nineties pop… for nine hours straight. Oh, and everyone from Chaka Khan and Lenny Kravitz to Rihanna and Michelle freaking Obama logged on. Since then, D-Nice’s Club Quarantine has been a global rhythmic respite raising millions of dollars for first responders, HBCUs and more. After spreading hope online, D-Nice is back to spinning live and rocking stages, taking his talent from his sold-out Club Quarantine Live at the Hollywood Bowl to 2023’s live, third-anniversary party for Club Quarantine at Harlem’s iconic Apollo Theater.
